In this effort, we have developed HCN’s CyberSmart Series to help our clients stay informed about the ever-changing security and technology landscape. With cyber threats becoming increasingly sophisticated, safeguarding your financial and personal information is of paramount importance to us. We understand that you rely on HCN to keep your assets secure, and we are committed to do our part for your financial well-being! Have you seen this social media attack? There is a new Cyber-attack that targets business accounts on popular social media networks. A group of cybercriminals are using Facebook Messenger and LinkedIn to try and steal sensitive information. Here's how they do it: In this scam, cybercriminals use the Messenger apps to ask you about your business. In these communications, they include an attachment or link. If you open the attachment/link, it can install malware (malicious or harmful software) onto your device. Once installed, cybercriminals can spy on you, watch your keystrokes, and steal your sensitive information. This type isn’t exclusive to business accounts. Cybercriminals could use this technique to target anyone to gain access to sensitive information, like bank accounts. Our recommendations: • Never download an attachment that you aren’t expecting. • Be cautious when opening messages from unknown users. • Don’t click on links unless you are certain about where the link is taking you.
